As Christmas approaches, Munich-based IndustrieHansa Consulting & Engineering GmbH has once again demonstrated its long-term social commitment in practical terms. On behalf of the company, one of Germany's leading engineering service providers with an 850-strong workforce, Finance Director Sabine Huber presented a check for €10,000 to the José Carreras Leukemia Foundation.
IndustrieHansa has a long tradition of charitable donations in place of Christmas gifts to customers. The company sees this as part of its social obligation, "which we still take seriously even in economically tough times," says Managing Director Uwe Hihn.
By choosing to support the José Carreras Leukemia Foundation, IndustrieHansa has chosen a recipient "with whom we know the money is in good hands", says Huber. The foundation, established by the famous Spanish tenor himself, uses donated funds for the aim set out by its founder: "Leukemia must be made curable. Always and for everyone." It supports research into new treatments, the construction of treatment facilities and the work of self-help groups and parents' initiatives throughout Germany.
CEO Jochen Kreutzberg accepted IndustrieHansa's donation on behalf of the foundation. He explained that donations like this make an essential contribution to identifying the causes of leukemia, improving treatment options and reducing the still high mortality rates after bone marrow transplants.
