Conception of welded assemblies for gas turbines

Sectors: Energy
Category: Consulting
Process: Development
Introduction
The job involved using modeled elements to produce drawings of welded seams for one of the world's leading suppliers for power plant engineering and energy plant construction. The cosmetic elements used in the past had resulted in a higher incidence of mistakes during model and drawing modifications.

IndustrieHansa was tasked with producing corresponding proposals because the customer put his faith in the project-based know-how displayed by the IndustrieHansa specialists.

Solution: The IndustrieHansa team produced a concept which involves modeling the individual parts with seam preparations for the production of welded assemblies. The welded seams are subsequently produced as a separate part in an assembly. The majority of welded seam modeling stems from the basic geometry of the seam preparations and is mostly automated.

Puncture points
  • Production of modeling concepts
  • Documentation of procedure
  • Introduction of system in design team

Benefits
The benefit for the customer gained from the procedure selected for this project is that all welded seams in the drawing do not have to be produced as special cosmetics or special symbols. This helps to prevent drawing mistakes in the event of modifications. Other key benefits include an accurate weight, including that of the welded material, and the fact that the assembly can be used for machining.
