Introduction
Generators can weigh several hundred tonnes. It's not just the power-generating parts but also the cladding, i.e. the outer housing, which are very heavy despite being made from sheet metal. The housing has to be fitted with axial and radial ribs so that it can cope with the mechanical stress experienced during operation.
Solution: IndustrieHansa was assigned responsibility for the design, adaptation and optimization of the generator's outer housing during the project to develop a new generator type.
Puncture points
- Production of modeling concept for welded assemblies
- Design of assemblies and individual parts
- Layout and arrangement of ribs, under consideration of the oscillation which occurs
- Production of assembly and production drawings
- Production of parts lists
Benefits
The project resulted in a newly developed outer housing for the generator. By using our concept for welded assemblies, the customer is able to better handle and work with all assemblies. Since the welded assemblies are associated with other assemblies / models, modifications need only be made to one component to keep the entire main assembly up-to-date. More precise weight calculations are also possible.
