Design deviations for aircraft primary structure

Sectors: Aviation
Category: Engineering
Process: Development
Introduction
When design deviations arise, they have to be documented in what are known as repair drawings in as short a response time as possible. They also require evaluation and the rework instructions needed to resolve them have to produced. Examples of design deviations include a defective bore in the aircraft's skin or air inclusions in fiber composite parts. A leading European aircraft manufacturer is bringing external expertise on board to assist in-house staff on this matter.

Thanks to its many years of experience in this area, the team at IndustrieHansa is able to meet or even surpass the required response times.

Solution: The work involved in design deviation projects is carried out locally very close to the production department. Continuous coordination with the technical department, the production team and statics engineers forms part and parcel of these engineering services.

Puncture points
  • Evaluation of production deviations
  • Writing of rework instructions
  • Proposals for improving processes

Benefits
Thanks to the design deviation work undertaken for the fuselage, wings and vertical tail, the customer can be sure of rapid and reliable processing of evaluations and rework instructions. He also gains a neutral process assessment which can serve as a basis for possible improvements to processes.
