DMU/Packaging for dividing wall of engine compartment

Sectors: Automotive
Category: Engineering
Process: Development
Introduction
New ranges of vehicles have to satisfy ever more stringent safety and standard requirements and special care is therefore needed in the production and quality assurance of design and CAD data. In this context a major production plant belonging to an important OEM needed to safeguard the installation of components near the dividing wall of the engine compartment working in close collaboration with the OEM and supplier.

The complex link between the front end and passenger compartment requires years of experience and know-how. And IndustrieHansa can deliver both – one of the main reasons why the customer chose to entrust us with this project.

Solution: Design optimization of the installation space, including creating spaces to integrate future generations of engines.

Puncture points
  • Development construction for optimum design of the installation space
  • Packaging/DMU for the pedals, air conditioning, wiring and coverings
  • Archiving concept developments in the EDM system
  • Optimization of parts lists in response to component adaptations

Benefits
As well as cutting module costs for designing the dividing wall of the engine compartment, work also optimized the complex installation space such that it is now sufficiently flexible to accommodate future generations of engines. Another key benefit is the consideration of alternative and "low-emission" powertrain concepts.
