Integration of new electrical/electronic components in assembly

Sectors: Automotive
Category: Engineering
Process: Production
Introduction
Integrating new vehicle types into existing structures demands a lot of the planning team. The electrical and electronic components in particular require more attention as they are continually increasing in complexity. In this context, a major OEM from southern Germany was confronted with the task of integrating the installation of control devices, vehicle power supplies, lighting, controls, displays and body electronics into the current assembly process.

Experts from IndustrieHansa took on this work with the aim of completing the integration with as few conversions and new purchases as possible.

Solution: Complete implementation of process planning for smoothly integrating into the existing structures.

Puncture points
  • Integration of new and/or changed elements
  • Procurement and adaptation of equipment (analysis of needs, writing of specification, supervision of suppliers, commissioning)
  • Coordination and definition of the logistics processes with logistics planning (provision of materials, material flow, container sizes)
  • Planning, procurement of screw systems, especially EC screw technology
  • Monitoring of deadlines and costs

Benefits
Detailed planning within the existing structures allowed the conversion and procurement of new systems to be reduced to a minimum. All cycles were evened out and graded as "OK" from ergonomic standpoints. The success of the project was topped by process reliability in volume production and for an emergency strategy.
