Introduction
The parts and modules fitted in today's vehicles have to satisfy a whole raft of standards. Production, assembly and maintenance are likewise subject to strict requirements such as crash properties in an emergency and therefore passenger protection. Such were the challenges faced by a premium manufacturer from southern Germany in developing a vehicle model.
The work was entrusted to engineers from IndustrieHansa, chosen as partners because of their extensive experience and up-to-date know-how in this line of work.
Solution: Positioning, analyses of collisions, concept and installation for key sub-sections of the vehicle architecture.
Puncture points
- Producing an overview of the electrics for the complete vehicle
- Positioning bolts
- Concept design
- Analysis of installation space
- Analysis of material properties after real hardware crash
- Adaptation of body-in-white geometry
- Development of bracket concepts
Benefits
Analysis of the crash properties using static and dynamic methods of analysis provided useful information for improving passenger safety. Optimization of components and modules at an early stage of product development not only meant that optimum product design could be verified for the model tested in the crash test, but also safeguarded future vehicle underbodies and variants.
