Planning materials handling and high-bay storage for painted car bodies

Sectors: Automotive
Category: Engineering
Process: Production
Introduction
The paintwork and assembly areas in a regional German factory belonging to a global OEM are no longer linked. This being so, storage and materials handling had to be realigned.

Thanks to its good experience in previous projects, IndustrieHansa was assigned all planning tasks from developing a concept up to commissioning the new equipment.

Solution: Plans for implementing a "supermarket" in the form of modern high-bay storage including the materials handling needed for the upstream and downstream processes.

Puncture points
  • Planning the concept / layout
  • Development of quotation
  • Layout planning
  • Supplier management
  • Project controlling
  • Coordination on the building site

Benefits
Once the new high-bay storage had been successfully commissioned, the technical paintwork and assembly areas were able to respond to fluctuations in volumes more specifically and flexibly. Staff planning also benefited from the way the project made the working hours models flexible.
